Brief Information About the Site:
VisitMatewan.com is a website attempting to establish Matewan, West Virginia as a “hot spot” for the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System. Another “goal” of the website is to provide unsolicited exposure to all trail-relevant businesses local to Matewan. VisitMatewan.com is designed to be an up-to-date source for events and information concerning Matewan, WV. The website is geared towards those unfamiliar with the town whose primary interest is in the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System (namely the Buffalo Mountain Trails and Matewan TrailHead). This website isn’t intended to be a resource to share the rich history of Matewan (visit www.Matewan.com for that).

Trail & Town Q&A | With this feature, you can ask your questions concerning the Hatfield & McCoy Trail System and receiver a speedy response from someone knowledgeable.

Member Ratings and Comments | Each business and photograph listed on the site is able to be rated and commented on by members. This allows for unbiased feedback about what you’ll be doing when you decided to Visit Matewan.

By becoming a member, you’ll be able to receive monthly event calendars, share your trip photographs with others, and receive random free gifts based on your contribution to the site. What’s Coming in the Future:
Some of the features in the works:
- “Notebook” | This feature will allow you to add specific images, comments, phone numbers, business listings, or events to you own, unique page for quick reference if ever needed in the future. Expected to be online by Marh ‘08.
- “Matewan Stream” | Using this, you’ll be able to view a live 24/7 stream of the town. This will be publicized during town events. Expected to be online by July ‘08.
- “Event Commenting/Rating” | Just like business and image commenting, you’ll soon be able to comment and rate all events listing on http://visitmatewan.com/index/pages/upcomingevents/. This should be online by Febraury ‘08.
- New /Shop Prodcuts | Several official Hatfield-McCoy Trail products will soon be added to VisitMatewan.com/shop. A few VisitMatewan.com products (such as a black alternative to the t-shirt and vinyl decals) will also be added. These products will be added in Febraury ‘08.
- Member Profiles | Profiles will enable you to view the dates another member visited Matewan, where he/she came from, and where he/she stayed. Expect this in Febraury ‘08.
- Member Messaging | Along with profiles, you’ll also be able to send each member a message on VisitMatewan.com. This eliminates the need for email annoying usage. Expect this in March ‘08.
