     VisitMatewan.com is designed to be an up-to-date source for events and information concerning Matewan, WV. The website is geared towards those unfamiliar with the town whose primary interest is in the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System (primarily the Buffalo Mountain Trails and Matewan TrailHead). This website isn't intended to be a resource to share the rich history of Matewan (visit www.Matewan.com for that).

Quck Facts About the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System
     The Buffalo Mountain Trail System is the center of a triangle formed by Williamson, Delbarton, and Matewan, West Virginia. The two trailheads on the 95 mile long trail system are located in Matewan and at Reverand Compton Park (midway between Williamson and Debarton). Each trailhead is open from 9AM-12PM seven days a week and has a free, 2 acre parking area and restrooms. According to the Hatfield-McCoy Trail Authority, the Buffalo Mountain System can be divided up by difficulty as follows:
20% rated “Easy”
65% rated “More Difficult”
12% rated “Most Difficult”
3% rated “Single Track Only”
